She is a graduate of Texas A&M University and an award-winning novelist of Christian fiction whose first published work jumped onto the Christian Booksellers Association bestseller list in its first month of release. Kathleen is a former treasurer for the American Christian Fiction Writers, and is a member of the Author’s Guild, Inspirational Writers Alive, Words for the Journey Christian Writers Guild, and the Fellowship of Christian Authors. ABOUT THE BOOK

BELOVED COUNTERFEIT
by Kathleen Y'Barbo
Published by Barbour

LOVE CAN COVER A MUTITUDE OF SINS

Washed ashore on Fairweather Key, Ruby O’Shea and her three nieces─the offspring of the pirate Thomas Hawkins and Ruby’s late sister─have a chance for a new beginning as Ruby takes a job in a boardinghouse and the girls are passed off as her daughters. But will Ruby be able to confess all when she falls for Micah Tate, a widower, wrecher, and soon-to-be preacher?

Micah is determined to marry the young woman who has captured his heart despite knowing she has something to hide. But will he be able to remain true to his vows when his lady love’s shady past comes to light?

Captain Thomas Hawkins will go to any length to discover the whereabouts of his daughters. What will his determination cost the folks of Fairweather Key?

When Ruby finds herself bereft of her newfound love and protector, will she run away in an attempt to escape her present as she did her past? Will Micah’s love cover the multitude of Ruby’s sins, or will Ruby’s duplicity cost her everything?

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

1. What gave you the inspiration for this story?

After writing Micah as the best friend in both prior books, I felt like it was his turn to have a story. When Ruby O'Shea (whose last name was borrowed from my childhood orthodontist) washed ashore with her girls in book #2, I found the perfect candidate for a happily ever after.

2. How much of your own experiences influenced your characters? What aspects became traits that are theirs and theirs alone?

In Beloved Counterfeit, Ruby struggles with what it means to be a new creation in Christ. Both Ruby and Micah must work through the issue of forgiving themselves and those who love them. Those are common themes for most of use, including me.

3. If one of your characters were an ice cream flavor, what would he/she be and why?

With her red hair, Ruby would definitely be strawberry. Micah, he's rocky road!

4. Are there any themes in Beloved Counterfeit that you hope the reader sees? Are there any themes that weren't overt but developed as the stories progressed?

As I've already mentioned, forgiving yourself and others is a major theme in the book.

5. What were your most difficult parts to write? Your favorite?

My favorite part was the scene where Ruby helps Micah write his sermon. I do believe sometimes the Lord confounds the wise with the questions of the innocent, and that's exactly what happened between those two. The most difficult part was the ending because I didn't want the book or the series to end. There was -or rather is - so much more to the story and so many more characters like William, Clay, and Viola whose stories weren't elaborated upon. Of course they all live happily ever after.

6. When is your next book coming out and what is the story?

THE CONFIDENTIAL LIFE OF EUGENIA COOPER releases June 1 from Waterbrook. Here's the blurb: Eugenia Cooper, a socialite in 1880s New York, determines to cast aside her predictable life for just a few weeks—and finds herself up to her bonnet-strings in Wild West adventure. Drawn to an enigmatic silver baron, she must decide whether her future lies in rough-and-tumble Colorado or with the dapper banker awaiting her return.
