Spotlight Delay -- Personal Theft

Sorry to do this, but this week's spotlight will be featured on Thursday instead of Tuesday. The spotlight author is on a deadline, and I've been swamped today dealing with my wallet and cell phone getting stolen.

Thankfully, only minimal items were in there, but it's still a hassle to backtrack and file a police report, then follow-up with places where the card was used checking for security cameras, etc.

Needless to say, my time has been otherwise usurped...which works out good for the author being featured. I'll be back on Thursday with the winner from last week's spotlight and the new interview.

If you haven't posted a comment from last week, now's your chance. You have 2 extra days!

Ok, I filed the report with the state police. From what I discovered during my amateur sleuthing, one place has already pulled their surveillance tape and made a copy along with the register receipt and placed it in a folder for the police when they come. The 3 gas stations all have surveillance as well, but it's an external company where only they and the police can have any access. However, they said it wouldn't be a problem to gain access when the police arrive to investigate. I went back to the station and provided them with the list of places where my cards were used, so they can follow-up.

Oh, and when I went to get a new license, the tech keyed in my # and discovered I'm suspended in CALIFORNIA! I suspect it's from a bogus ticket I disputed 4 years ago that was never fully resolved, but the county court there never sent any response to my last letter. It's been 2-1/2 years since I've heard from them.

All of this is going to make a great story for one of my characters someday. Readers won't believe this could happen to 1 person, but they say real life is stranger than fiction!
